S. Narsing Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, The Singareni Collieries co. Ltd., Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. This is a joint venture with 51% equity held by government of Andhra Pradesh through Ministry of Coal. This has good track record in the coal production from past 122 years. 51.02 million tonnes of coal is produced in the last financial year. We will surely touch 53 million tonnes of coal these years as there is increase in the coal production. Nevertheless there is a huge demand and supply of the coal. Our endeavour is to step up production further and secure coal blocks. We can supplement coal production & meet the Singareni Collieries co. Ltd. 72% being supplied to the thermal power stations such as APGENCO, NTPC, and various other states the coal is exported, 15% to the cement companies etc. There was 130 million tonnes of coal shortage in the country which lead to crisis. For APGENCO, 12.5 Million tonnes of coal is supplied, we are supplying to 18 million tonnes. Coal is the major constrain which is dragging the economy towards it. So, necessary steps have to be taken to increase the coal production.
